The Band is back on the beat!

We all know that the Southmoore Band can put on a good show, how they do it is the real question. It obviously takes a lot of work, but what does it truly take within a singlewood person?

Freshman Emily Smith and Ian Kinsley explained how they set up for rehearsals, “They divide into different groups by [the instruments], color guard, battery, and pit.’’

“We started [practicing] in May. It took about two to three months, not counting band camp [to get our routine down],’’ Smith said.

Through the switch from Jr high band to high school band, many had to switch their instruments like Kinsley who switched from trombone to baritone.

Although everyone’s instrument has differences, it’s the prideful and passionate sounds that bring them together.

Even when they have to wake up at 5:30 am to practice from 7:00 to 8:45 and only have 20 minutes to get ready for school, they still stay positive knowing what they are doing is worth it in the end.

The marching band will go on a trip in December to play in London which is their biggest competition of the season.
